Michael Allen Bio:
Michael Allen is an accomplished award winning photographer based in Memphis Tennessee. He's worked on locations around the world such as New York, Mexico and Key West to name a few. Michael is currently shooting as an editorial photographer for several magazines & advertising agencies, he works daily as a commercial photographer, as well as running a small portrait studio and high end wedding photography business. Michael's images have been published worldwide, and he has just finished a new book targeted to new portrait and wedding photographers.
With photography organizations like WPPI & PPA fueling his artistic drive, Michael stays current in the latest trends in high end weddings. His experience ranges from commercial projects, architectural, advertising and media. Michael has shot projects for companies like Technicolor, International Paper, Soundcheck-Walmart, Lunchbox Productions, AvariceFilm, Southern Bride Magazine, Lonely Planet, Unilever, Avant Bride NYC, and many more. He has photographed clients such as American Idol sensation Lauren Alaina, and top billboard artists such as Dierks Bentley. Michael just wrapped a shoot with Colin Cowie, the world famous wedding and event designer at the Hard Rock resort in Puerta Vallarta Mexico. Michael recently worked on the set with Sebastian Kim for GQ Magazine shooting Justin Timberlake and Kendrick Lamar. Needless to say, Michael stays busy!
Michael is also an avid film maker, utilizing the latest Canon 5d Mark II HDDSLR, currently shooting indie films, documentaries, music videos, and business profiles for fashion designers, models, musicians, ad agencies and for photographers. Combining HD films and photography is the latest trend sweeping the industry offering fusion films shot on the Canon 5d & 7d.
Michael's personal favorite style of shooting utilizes hot lights, off camera flash and bounce lighting. To mimic all natural light in a creative situation is every photographers challenge, Michael has a unique style that fits both commercial applications and every day wedding shoots.
Michael and the team are currently designing workshops teaching editorial & fashion & wedding photography techniques for 2014. Michael's past workshops were held in Seaside, Florida where he taught editorial photography techniques for Southern Bride Magazine. Michael has also been a guest speaker for organizations as the ASID, Mississippi Mainstreet Association helping others learn how to harness the power of photography and video to help businesses attract customers, and Michael mentors other photographers in one on one workshops.
